Leather Care Rituals: Make Fine Leather Last Decades

LeatherCare
Leather care rituals

Full-grain leather is a living material. It breathes, darkens, and develops a patina that records the story of its use. With a simple quarterly ritual, a fine bag will outlast its warranty by decades.

Clean first, always: wipe with a barely damp, lint-free cloth to lift surface dust. Never use household cleaners or alcohol — they strip the tannins that give leather its depth.

Condition sparingly. A pea-sized amount of neutral leather balm, worked in with circular motions and buffed after twenty minutes, restores suppleness. Over-conditioning saturates the fibres and dulls the finish.

Store with intention: stuff bags with acid-free tissue to hold their shape, keep them in the dust bag provided, and give them air twice a year. Leather kept in plastic suffocates; leather kept in sunlight fades. A cool wardrobe shelf is its favourite home.
